PROPOSED FISHERIES MANAGEMENT ACT 1990.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 90-252, dated 11th October, 1990,
submitted by the Minister for Agriculture and Rural
Affairs, in relation to this matter, subject to:agreement being reached with the Attorney General
in relation to the question of an independent
tribunal; and
consultation with other Ministers in relation to
matters raised in their advices.

The Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs is to
take the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.

PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH THE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
AUTHORITY FOR NEW SOUTH WALES.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 90-310, dated 14th November, 1990,
submitted by the Minister for the Environment, including
the following matters:1.
Arrangements for transfer of functional
responsibilities:
pest control licensing and dangerous goods to be
assumed by the Environmental Protection Authority
(EPA);
pesticides control to remain with Department of
Agriculture pending the outcome of current
negotiations for transfer to the Commonwealth;
radiation control to be taken over by the EPA on
the understanding that arrangements for input by
medical experts are retained;
major hazards policy unit be divided between the
EPA and the Department of Planning.
