FAIR TRADING (AMENDMENT) BILL
Approval was given to the provisions of the Fair Trading
(Amendment) Bill, 1990, as summarised in Cabinet Minute
90-140, dated 17th May, 1990, submitted by the Minister
for Business and Consumer Affairs, in relation to this
matter.
Cabinet also decided that the Retail Tenancies Code, and
all future codes under the Fair Trading Act which govern
the commercial sector, be required to be approved by
Cabinet before they become law.

PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE PARLIAMENTARY ELECTORATES AND
ELECTIONS ACT 1912 AND THE CONSTITUTION ACT 1902.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 90-246, dated 9th October, 1990,
submitted by the Premier, Treasurer, and Minister for
Ethnic Affairs, in relation to this matter, including
the preparation of the necessary legislation, subject
to

deletion of the amount of "$200" in
recommendation 3.1 (2), and the insertion of the
amount of "$250";
the deletion of the word "Tuesday" in recommedation
3.1 (10), and the insertion of the word
"Wednesday";
the deletion of the numeral "2" between the words
"between" and "consecutive" in recommendation 3.3;
recommendation 3.4 limiting a right to challenge to
30 days after proclamation or the issue of the
writs;
Cabinet also decided that the legislation is to preclude
the marking of ballot papers with ticks and crosses.
