AMENDMENT OF THE BUSINESS FRANCHISE LICENCES (TOBACCO)
ACT, 1987 TO INCREASE LICENCE FEES.
Approval was given to the recommendation contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-210, dated 14th June, 1989, submitted
by the Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Ethnic
Affairs in relation to this matter, including the
preparation of the necessary legislation, subject to:*

the increase in licence fees applying from the 1st
July, 1989.
Cabinet also decided that an announcement, prior to 30th
June, 1989, was to be made by the Minister for Health,
as part of the release of the Voluntary Code.
PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE ACT,
1974 TO PROHIBIT ALL MINING ACTIVITY FROM NATIONAL PARKS
AND EQUIVALENT AREAS.

Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-136, dated 13th April, 1989, submitted
by the Minister for the Environment in relation to this
matter, subject to:*
the inclusion of the provision outlined in the
Minister for the Environment's letter of 15th June,
1989.
Cabinet also decided that the Minister for the
Environment is to prepare a submission to Cabinet on a
system of formal referencing, and to establish a
Committee of Cabinet to deal with the questions of
resource assessment.
The Minister for the Environment is to take the
necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision,
including the preparation of the necessary legislation.
