MISCELLANEOUS AMENDMENTS TO PERIODIC DETENTION OF
PRISONERS ACT, 1981.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-87, dated 21st March, 1989, submitted
by the Minister for Corrective Services, in relation to
this matter, subject to:Recommendation 3.1 (a) - the maximum term being 3
years not 5 years.
Recommendation 3.1 (b) - a Court being able to
impose an additional Periodic Detention Order on a
person who has already received such an Order from
another Court; and
consultation with the Attorney General's Department
in the drafting of the legislation.
The Minister for Corrective Services is to take the
necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision,
including the preparation of the necessary legislation.

PROPOSED LEGISLATION TO ENACT THE MT. PANORAMA MOTOR
RACING ACT.
Approval was given to the recommendation contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-159, dated 18th April, 1989, submitted
by the Minister for Sport, Recreation and Racing, in
relation to this matter, subject to:the amendments agreed to by the Minister for Sport,
Recreation and Racing during the consultation
phase.
The Minister for Sport, Recreation and Racing is to take
the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.
