PENALTIES FOR ENVIRONMENT OFFENCES ACT.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-107, dated 31st March, 1989, submitted
by the Minister for the Environment, in relation to this
matter, subject to:*
no Ministerial order to freeze assets in
the interim, as proposed in Recommendation
3.5;
the penalties in Schedule 1, C and D being:-

C.
$40,000 and 5 years' imprisonment
maximum.
$80,000 and 5 years' imprisonment
maximum.
$150,000 and 7 years' imprisonment
maximum.
(iv)
$1,000,000 (with no gaol penalty).
D.
$150,000 and 7 years' imprisonment.
The Minister for the Environment is to take the
necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision,
including the preparation of the necessary legislation.
