PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE LIQUOR ACT 1982 AND THE
REGISTERED CLUBS ACT 1976.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-95, dated 28th March, 1989, submitted
by the Chief Secretary, and Minister for Tourism, in
relation to this matter.
The Chief Secretary, and Minister for Tourism, is to
take the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.

REFORM OF THE MARITIME SERVICES BOARD.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-94, dated 22nd March, 1989, submitted
by the Minister for Transport, in relation to this
matter, subject to:the Minister for Transport consulting with
the Hunter and Illawarra Taskforces with regard
to the implementation;
the question of the ownership of the coal
loaders being addressed separately, but
concurrently; and
•
the question of the separation of regulatory
and commercial functions to be addressed, as
a matter of priority by the new Board, including
an overlap of functions with the Water Police.
Cabinet also approved, in principle, of the
establishment of a separate subsidiary corporation for
the Port of Eden, unless the Ministry of Transport can
indicate major reasons to the contrary.
The proposals on waterways management were rejected by
Cabinet. It was resolved that an Inter-Departmental
Committee was to be established to determine the
location of this function.
The Minister for Transport is to take the necessary
action to give effect to Cabinet's decision, including
the preparation of the necessary legislation.
