PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE AUCTIONEERS AND AGENTS ACT,
1941.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-58, dated 28th February, 1989,
submitted by the Minister for Housing, in relation to
this matter, subject to:*
•
the Council of Auctioneers and Agents seeking
the Treasurer's approval where an external funds
manager is to be appointed.
The Minister for Housing is to take the necessary action
to give effect to Cabinet's decision, including the
preparation of the necessary legislation.
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE LIQUOR ACT 1982 AND
REGISTERED CLUBS ACT 1976.
Cabinet rejected the proposals contained in Cabinet
Minute 89-77, dated 16th March, 1989, submitted by the
Chief Secretary, and Minister for Tourism.
Cabinet resolved that the Minister is to submit a
further Minute to Cabinet, recommending that changes be
made to permit the extension of trading hours only after
approval by the Licensing Court.

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE BUSINESS NAMES ACT, 1962.
Approval was given to the recommendation contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-19, dated 7th February, 1989,
submitted by the Minister for Business and Consumer
Affairs, in relation to this matter, subject to:*
matters under Section 5(1) of the Act
proceeding by way of penalty notice, and
a fine of $1,250 (one quarter of the maximum)
being imposed.
The Minister for Business and Consumer Affairs is to
take the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.
