The Attorney General's report was noted.

OZONE PROTECTION BILL, 1989.
Approval was given to the provisons of the Ozone
Protection Bill, 1989, as summarised in Cabinet Minute
89-384, dated 23rd May, 1989, submitted by the Minister
for the Environment, in relation to this matter, subject
to
being made by the Minister for the
Environment, without the inclusion of a reference
in the legislation to Cabinet. The Premier is to
write to the Minister requiring Cabinet approval
before any regulation is made;
the omission of power of forfeiture from Clause 6;
the inclusion of the Minister for Health, and Arts,
on the Cabinet sub-committee on Climate Change.
Cabinet also noted that the Minister for the Environment
would delete from the Bill the proposed provisions to
control the introduction of substitutes for ozone
depleting substances.
