AN IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY FOR TACHOGRAPHS.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-360, dated 25th October, 1989,
submitted by the Minister for Transport in relation to
this matter; subject to:maximum penalty of $5000 for failing to produce a
log book or tachograph records
a maximum penalty of $5000, and licence
cancellation, for interfering with tachographs
the power of Police to seize and use records and
instruments to be restricted to circumstances
involving serious offences only.

Cabinet also decided that the question of an offence of
offering any incentive or reward for a driver to
contravene the traffic laws is to be investigated by the
Attorney General.
The Minister for Transport is to take the necessary
action to give effect to Cabinet's decision, including
the preparation of the necessary legislation.

PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF PIPELINES ACT, 1967 CONCERNING
VALIDATION OF EASEMENTS.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-349, dated 16th October, 1989,
submitted by the Minister for Minerals and Energy, in
relation to this matter.
The Minister for Minerals and Energy is to take the
necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision,
including the preparation of the necessary legislation.
