PROPOSED RESTRUCTURING OF THE
COLLIERY COMPANIES.
ELECTRICITY COMMISSION'S
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 89-298, dated 8th September, 1989,
submitted by the Minister for Minerals and Energy, in
relation to this matter, subject to:-
•
all power station coal supply contracts and
agreements to be subject to competitive tendering
process;
•
independent consultants being appointed to report
to the Minister for Minerals and Energy, and the
Premier, on options to ensure the best rate in
terms of financial return and benefits to the NSW
economy;
Elcom not being empowered to purchase shares in
Premier Coal;
the timetable for implementation (Annexure B) being
adhered to; and
the Company not to be called "Premier Coal".
The Minister for Minerals and Energy is to take the
necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision.
9.
GRAIN HANDLING AUTHORITY (CORPORATISATION) BILL, 1989.
Approval was given to the provisions of the Grain
Handling Authority (Corporatisation) Bill, 1989, as
summarised in Cabinet Minute 89-302, dated 11th
September, 1989, submitted by the Premier, Treasurer and
Minister for Ethnic Affairs, in relation to this matter.
