As awoman, a mother, a Latinx member, and animmigrant to the United States, I want myuniqueness to be celebrated and viewed as anasset. I also want equal footing to be able toexpress my views.I knew that if I was going to be able to have theseopportunities, I needed to land in an organizationthat is intentional and makes considerableefforts to be a DEI employer. I measure thesethings by looking at a company’s actions, andthe financial backing that they put into theseinitiatives. I am happy to say that Novantaoffers some of these opportunities to me.An example of a big DEI win for me here hasbeen that my direct manager is a part of an10Delivering innovations that matterunderrepresentedcommunity too.When we firstmet, I felt a breathof fresh air seeing hisability to understandand relate to my journeyas a person of color in America. Because Icould see what he has been able to achieveat Novanta, I was able to see myself on stage,and my trust in the organization deepened.Being able to benefit from partnerships like thisis also essential to me from a mentorship andprofessional development standpoint. There isa sense of belonging and psychological safetythat comes from the diverse connections thatI have been able to make at Novanta, andthis allows me to be my authentic self withconfidence.
