nverness Athletic
manager Stuart Ross
is looking for his side
to lay the foundations
for future success in
the Football Times Cup
final this weekend.
Athletic have never
won the trophy in their
history, but take on
Alness United in the
showpiece match of
the competition.
Their run to the final
has been part of a
highly impressive first
half of the season that
has seen Inverness
Athletic reach the semi
finals of the North
of Scotland Cup and
put themselves firmly in the title race in
the North Caledonian
League.
Victory on Saturday
would be the culmination of that form – but
Ross also sees it as a
chance to set the tone
for the future with
some exciting developments happening at
the club off the pitch.
“It would be brilliant
(to win it),” Ross said.
“We met up for
pre-season in the first
week of July, and since
then right through to
now numbers at training have been great,
and their dedication
and commitment has
been unwavering.
“Our start to the
season is really a credit
to the players and the
work they have put in,
and to put the first cup
in the club’s history in
the cabinet – what better carrot do you need
