Stakeholder workshops
Since 2019, we have also held a
number of stakeholder workshops
annually. These were facilitated by
Perceptive Insight and hosted by
NIE Networks. The purpose was to
understand developing stakeholder
views on key features of our
business plan.
We engaged the NI Youth Forum to
carry out a number of focus groups
from their members – as consumers of
the future we felt this was an extremely
important part of our data collection.
We also established a separate working
group, made up of representatives from
across consumer groups, academia
and industry, to seek a diverse range
of views, experience and expertise
that would inform thinking; challenge
discussion to help shape the business
approach; and provide meaningful input
into discussions with respect to the
more technical aspects of the business
plan. In particular, these technical
workshops provided input into the
following list of considerations –

Northern Ireland Electricty Networks
•NIE Networks’ Low Carbon
Technology forecasts;
•NIE Networks’ key RP7 technical
models e.g. LCT tools, Asset
Decision Support Tool (ADST);
•Open data requirements – what
data should NIE Networks publish;
•Input into NIE Networks’ proposed
innovation projects and strategy;
•The future role of distribution
flexibility;
•
Network resilience; and
•
Impact of climate change.
At our final stakeholder workshop
in January 2022, we presented our
RP7 business plan priorities and
sought stakeholder views on the
appropriateness of our plans, the scale
of our ambition and any other issues
that ought to be considered.
Our engagement activity
has been designed to better
understand customer priorities
and deliver positive outcomes
for them.
