Behind every number there is a story. Our annual reporting
in finance aims to tell those stories of community, outreach,
and impact in 2020.
We are grateful to have been able to continue
to nurture the growth of our partnerships
and programs in spite of an
unprecedented and challenging
year. The local and global impact of
COVID-19, and the need to organize
an appropriate and effective
response, dominated all aspects
of our work as an organization.
For example, as Nia Tero pivoted
towards virtual platform gathering
and planning, we decreased all
expenses in Travel, Meetings, and
Convenings. But we also adapted to increase financial
support of our partners, and expanded the number

of our grant investments, from 70 in 2019 to a robust
164 in 2020. A total of 39 of these grants were
COVID-19 response grants. And 84%
of total spending in 2020 directly
supported our programmatic work
and initiatives.
We are proud to be able to
contribute this support to our
partners and programs in the
elevation and amplification of
Indigenous-led efforts towards
sovereignty and worldwide change.
Now, looking ahead, we are eager
and excited to see what our ongoing collaborations
bring in 2021 and beyond.
