Conservation
Nia Tero supported the establishment
of the Alliance on Indigenous and local
communities for conservation in Africa (AICA).
The inaugural gathering highlighted
critical issues such as conservation-related
displacement in Tanzania and land rights
challenges in Namibia and Kenya,
emphasizing the need for inclusive,
Indigenous-led conservation models.
Indigenous Peoples’
Engagement in
Climate Events
We facilitated an Indigenous presence
in climate events such as New York Climate
Week and Regional Climate Weeks in Africa,
Latin America, the Caribbean, and AsiaPacific. These efforts broadened Indigenous
engagement and capacity building in
preparation for substantial involvement
at COP 28.
