Highlights
Nia Tero works alongside Pasifika Peoples to
strengthen guardianship in the face of challenges
from post-colonial administrative and state
structures, as well as threats from large-scale
industrial logging, mining, and fishing.
In 2023, we maintained our partnerships with Indigenous
Peoples living in five independent Indigenous countries and
one colonial territory: Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon
Islands, Vanuatu, Kanaky/New Caledonia, and Cook Islands.
We funded the efforts of Indigenous Peoples’ organizations
and their trusted allies who are supporting diverse Pasifika
Peoples across the region to sustain and strengthen their
guardianship through customary practices of land
and sea management.
