Highlights
Nia Tero’s work in North America helps to
strengthen Indigenous stewardship of territories
by fostering cultural vitality, governance, and
sovereignty across the region. In 2023, Nia Tero
continued our partnerships with the Indigenous Leadership
Initiative (ILI) and deepened our relationship with the
Blackfeet Nation, the Blackfoot Confederacy, and the
Heiltsuk Nation. We sharpened our focus on funding the
efforts of three Indigenous-led organizations to strengthen
and expand Indigenous Peoples’ guardianship of territories
both within and beyond the boundaries of reserves
and reservations.
