GLOBAL PROGRAMS & ACHIEVEMENTS
PARTNER SPOTLIGHTS
Through the global pandemic and ongoing
climate impacts, we as the next generation of
storytellers, emerging elders, have begun to see
the importance of our roles as storytellers in the pathway to
healing, empowerment and making change. The nurturing,
wrap-around support, mentoring, and encouragement of
[the Nia Tero Storytelling team] has helped us to keep our
head above water. The work we have done with them has
helped Rako continue to survive. We are forever grateful
for the love and deep care given to us all.

The Nia Tero Storytelling Fellowship was life
changing for me as a filmmaker and an artist.
It gave me a freedom that I have never had before, as a
cultural storyteller. I felt very supported by the Storytelling
staff and facilitators, who have become like family to me.
Also, connecting with other Indigenous creatives from
all over the world was an amazing opportunity too. While
we came from different places, we all shared a love for
our homelands and the teachings of our people. These
new perspectives have allowed me to give back to our
community in new ways.
