Nia Tero 2022 Annual Report - Flipbook - Page 15
INTRODUCTION
PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
We have been fighting for a very
long time for the legal recognition
of our land rights in Suriname.
Consecutive governments made many promises to
Indigenous Peoples in Suriname, and at the same
time they have also demanded proof from us that
this is our ancestral land. In just five months, we
were able to demarcate our territory, which seems
impossible to everyone; but impossible things are
what we have done since Nia Tero believed in us.
