LEADERSHIP FELLOWS PROGRAM
(CONTINUED)
In 2021, Nia Tero successfully completed
the co-design of regional curricula in the
Amazonia, Pasifika, and Boreal regions.
Though COVID-19 continues to impact
the program’s development, we still
made progress and were able to fully
execute the Amazonia Leadership
Fellows program entirely online. This
facilitated a more localized approach,
allowing Fellows to learn from local
leaders while conducting a diverse set
of exercises in their communities. The
Amazonia Fellows are now in the final
stage of the program, and initiating the
design phase of their project of choice
in close consultation and coordination
with their local leadership.

In 2021, additional results of the
Amazonia program have included the
use of mother tongue education, the
provision of seed funding for project
implementation, and support to
Fellows and communities with
much-needed telecommunications
infrastructure and equipment for easy
internet access. It is our hope that in
2022, as travel restrictions ease across
the world, we will be able to conduct
the Pasifika and Boreal Leadership
Fellows programs unhindered and
in-person within each region.
