more so for young people and women.
The geo-climatic conditions of the country could allow
it to diversify its economy and develop multiple and
profitable activities in the green and blue economy sectors,
which in turn could generate employment and respect
the environment for future generations. Additionally,
digitizing the [functions of] government is a powerful
weapon for achieving transparency and efficiency, as well
as bringing administration and public services closer to the
citizens. We must also use ICT to strengthen the government’s action against corruption.
BUILDING THE FUTURE
The international development arena today, has changed
in the sense that there are many more actors than when I
joined. As such, competition is fierce. Therefore, we need
to be close to the people on the ground, innovative and
offer services that are within our strengths. UNDP is a very
well-respected organization and has the space to transform
lives. During my time as RR, I would like to help transform
the present, particularly in countries like Equatorial
Guinea. To do so, we need to promote digitalization as
a tool for governments to develop their countries. With
digitization, public services provided to the population will
be more effective, efficient, transparent, and closer to the
citizens. It is also a great opportunity for African countries
to reduce the development gap with the rest of the world.
I would also like to support the building of the future,
through empowerment of communities. Lack of development is what makes these communities weak. UNDP’s
work should also center around empowering young people
and women by promoting their education, training, and
entrepreneurial spirit. Young people will be the protagonists of the modernized societies of tomorrow, and women
the promoters of small [even large] distributive and
sustainable economies, as well as generators of jobs. n
