Support days
alongside your
team
Intensive support means you will work in partnership with us to implement whole school,
sustainable changes to your early reading provision. As a partner school, you will receive
between 3 and 15 days of intensive support days, as part of a flexible model for a period
of up to 3 years with your assigned Literacy Specialist. This depends on your school’s
early reading journey and areas for development. During these days, we work with you
to develop an action plan, which we review and update every time we visit your school.
It may be typical to work with your school for a period of up to two years, assigning 6
support days in the first day and three in the second year.
What does a typical support day look like?
Learning walk to identify strengths and areas for improvement
We develop a bespoke action plan alongside your team
Training for your Reading/Phonics Leader to give them the skills and confidence to
implement actions in between visits
Further training for other key members of your team to support them with early
language, reading for pleasure and phonics
What are the benefits of intensive support?
Our support is tailored exactly to the context and needs or your school
Partner schools receive discounts from all SSP programmes as well as free
membership to the National Literacy Trust for the duration of the partnership
Partner schools get first refusal of places on our medium-level support
We are looking to recruit partner schools to work with intensively starting from
September 2025. To apply for intensive support, please complete this self-referral
form.
"Working with passionate, knowledgeable colleagues who
take the time to understand the context of the school
rather than providing generic support. Our PSC data went
from 68% in 2019 to 90% in 2022!"
