freximbank has implemented the Creative
Africa Nexus Programme (CANEX), to
facilitate the development and growth
of the creative and cultural industries in Africa
and the diaspora, given its importance as a
key driver for development and job creation.
The programme provides a range of financing
and non-financing instruments/ interventions
as well supports Africa’s production, trade and
investment in creative content.
CANEX Presents Africa @ Portugal Fashion
provides a platform for the development
of emerging fashion designers. To date, 50
designers representing 25 African countries

diaspora have benefited from this initiative,
which is designed to facilitate linkages between
designers and industry stakeholders including
buyers, investors, manufacturers and press.
In addition to showcasing platforms, this
programme also provides mentorship and
networking sessions between the designers and
key international industry experts.
Here is a glimpse of the talented designers that
showcased at the last programne. As we went to
press, preparations for the fourth edition taking
place from 14-18 March 2023, were in gear and
we await with glee.
