Ashbourne Airfield is a brownfield site that is part
of a wider allocation for regeneration. As a crucial
element of the design, the existing runway was
incorporated into a green corridor lined with 3
storey gabled housing. Reflecting the character of
the surrounding area, special brick detailing adorns
the dwellings throughout the site. The primary
street has a large grass verge with hedgerow and
street trees. This large site has several different
character areas which needed highlighting, each
needed to be visually created in order for planning
officers to be able to truly capture the vision of this
reimagined place to live.
