BS 5975 defines an ITP as:

The ITP should consider the following points:
a.
Description of activity
b.
The technical and/or procedural standards, i.e., the reference document
c.
Who is responsible for carrying out the inspection and/or test
d.
When the inspection or test should be undertaken
e.
What equipment should be used to perform the inspection or test
f.
The standards or levels that should be achieved
g.
The verifying document that should be used
h.
Contractor verification that it has been completed
i.
Client acknowledgement that the inspection has been completed

The ITP is based upon the design output provided by the temporary works designer
(TWD).
5.4.8
The following table sets out the recommended post-installation checks, inspections,
and examinations as applicable in law and/or their related ACOP’s. This should be used
as a guide only as, in the context of temporary works, the implementation risk
classification and inspection, test plan (both incorporated into the implementation
plan) should also determine the frequency. In relation to inspection, note the aspect of
law that relates to the specific item of equipment.
