AUTHORS
HOLLY MARTINEZ is executive director of the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Under her
leadership, the Commission secured a historic $7.9 million dollars to lead a Women’s Recovery Response effort and develop a
California Blueprint for Women’s Recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining the Commission, Martinez
served as director of programs and advocacy at the California State Parks Foundation, and as director of CalEITC4Me, an
education and outreach campaign for the California Earned Income Tax Credit. She also previously served as director of
AmeriCorps in California, and as chief of staff to First Lady Maria Shriver.
ROBIN OWENS, PHD, is interim director of the Center for the Advancement of Women and an associate professor of religion
at Mount Saint Mary’s University. Owens brings experience in both corporate and social work settings to the classroom to
inform her transformational teaching. Outside of the classroom, she is the host of the popular podcast, “Leadership Purpose
with Dr. Robin.” Owens is the author of two books: My Faith in the Constitution is Whole: Barbara Jordan and the Politics
of Scriptures (Georgetown Press, 2022) and Making Purpose-Based Decisions: An Inspirational Guide to More Meaning,
Purpose, and Passion in Your Leadership, Business, or Career (Balboa Press, forthcoming).
ELEANOR SIEBERT, PHD, is professor emerita and former provost and academic vice president of Mount Saint Mary’s. She
is the lead researcher for the Report. Siebert is a fellow of the American Chemical Society and was active for many years in
accrediting colleges and universities in the western United States. She also serves on the board of directors of the Southern
California Expanding Your Horizons collaborative, which encourages middle school girls to pursue science and mathematics
courses.
