SOCIAL HISTORY
by Rebecca Hallam
Joined all the socials to
pretend to be a person
glass eaved dystopia via
Kodak trap door to attention
press pause private moments
VHS’d for the camera
who chastises my un-brand,
a defect lounge glamour.
This red heart refusing
guazed Hitchcockian drama
won’t parade by Rear Window,
eye blinds shut to diorama
through the lens of device-ives,
algorithms entangled
our sharing of white lies
in code blue data shadows.
But I’ll continue to stage right
for a thumbful of reasons
LinkedIn appears, collab friends,
scam dating, Zoom reunions
they cannot fore-exist without
screen ghost credentials
ambiverts’ witnessed nightmare
of social-existential.
