MONO ISSUE 2 - Flipbook - Page 3
EDITORIAL
Welcome to the second edition of MONO. When I wrote the first editorial in
October the world seemed like a new and strange place, and now as I write
this, it seems even stranger. With the world in turmoil, it really is encouraging
to see the writers, poets, creatives, and dreamers doing what they do best.
Creating. If we look hard enough, we will see that culture, art, literature, the
essence of the human spirit cannot be destroyed, but instead rises with an
even stronger voice.
We received many submissions for this issue from writers across the world and
as always, in these pages you will read poetry and prose from established
authors and first-time publications side by side. This issue, like the first, has no
theme, but a distinct feeling…of regret, missed opportunity, lost-love, that I
think reflects the lingering feeling that many of us have in the current times.
You will also find a healthy dose of dark humour, some beautiful poetry,
breakfast table musings, and a little nod to dystopia for good measure.
Don’t forget to check out the upcoming MONO. Poetry Prize – details at the
back. With this year’s competition judged by TS Eliot Prize winner, Joelle
Taylor, we are super excited to see what comes through.
Finally, a big thank you to all our contributors, we love connecting with you and
it is always a privilege to be trusted with work of such high quality. Enjoy.
Stay safe and keep writing!
