MONO ISSUE 1 PDF FLIPBOOK - Flipbook - Page 3
EDITORIAL
We launched MONO. earlier this year with the intention of creating
something quirky, fresh and free of confusing rules. We wanted the
journal to find its own unique voice and it's been incredibly exciting to see
that happen over the last few months. Within our pages you will find
unpublished writing from every corner of the globe and from an
amazingly diverse community of talented writers.
From the very beginning, we've been overwhelmed by the level of
support with over 1000 submissions for this pilot edition alone, so
thankyou to all who submitted, followed us on social media, read blog
posts, and sent encouraging emails. Your support is valued more than
you know. To our fabulous authors, thankyou for being an absolute
pleasure to work with and for your fantastic contributions.
Though we didn't have a specific theme for this first edition, the
submissions we received focused on 'ordinary life' and more specifically,
mortality, which is perhaps a reflection of the times we are living in. All of
us have come face to face with our own humanity and the fragility of life
over the past year or more, and this has been evident in the writing we've
seen, in surprising, amusing and often moving ways.
We hope you'll enjoy the first issue of MONO. and find something
within its pages that resonates, reverberates, unsettles and inspires.
Stay safe and keep writing!
