MONO ISSUE 1 PDF FLIPBOOK - Flipbook - Page 21
As Monica pushed her ample body, military-style through the undergrowth, Audrey and Sarah
followed close behind. Monica suddenly stopped. Looking through the shadows of a tree, she saw a
grassy mound overgrown with thorns and weeds. It was definitely a grassy mound, she had no doubt
of it. Her mind raced as she told herself she had been right all along. Quickly gathering her thoughtsshould she leave and phone the police? Or should she take charge of the situation? Monica did as
she always did. Feeling confident of her leadership skills, she turned to confront Sarah but she had
only turned slightly to the right to face Sarah, the murderer, as Monica knew her to be, when the
large metal shovel connected with force against her skull. With a sound of cracking bone, a long
outlet of breathe and a dull thud, Monica fell to the ground, slumped in an untidy heap. She would
have been horrified to fall quite so untidily, with her skirt up exposing her knees and her hair covered
in blood, but on this occasion, everything was out of her control. Audrey and Sarah looked at each
other wide eyed, both breathing heavily with the adrenalin rush of murdering Monica, who hadn’t had
time to see the freshly dug earth behind the grassy mound, dug especially for her.
“Come on we need to do this quickly”, said Sarah as she and Audrey dragged Monica by her ankles
and dumped her in the hole before covering her with three feet of soil. Exhausted and sweating with
the heat of the day, the shovelling of the soil and the excitement of their deed, they fell into each
other’s arms, hugging each other with joy at what they had achieved.
“That was much easier than last time,” laughed Audrey, “no more Monica ruling the village and no
more Henry ruining people’s lives.”
“Yes Audrey” said Sarah looking at her dead husband's resting place, “Peace for us both at last."
