ln my pocket are shredded pieces of the wrapper. Managing to recover the fragment listing

She looks to be about sixteen, I noticed the skin around her eyes as she took the green
sweetie from me, I snuck a gaze: newly stretched around an adult sized skull.
So uh, what are you waiting for tonight? I say.
Waiting for morning. She says.
What for? I say.
Bus. I missed the last bus. Nowhere else to go. So, I’m waiting here for now. She says.
It’s really not safe around here. Is there anything I can do to help? I say.
No, I’m fine waiting here. She says.
Can I wait with you? Or grab you a sandwich or anything? I say
I’m fine. Not hungry. Just waiting. She says.
Morning is soon and first bus only a few hours from now. I have a spare bedroom, my flat’s
ten minutes from here, room’s made up all nice. You can stay there. You don’t even have to
say goodbye in the morning. Rob me if you want. Stay with me. I can even get you a taxi to
the bus station first thing.

I’ll stay here. Thanks though, I guess. I can look after myself. But thanks. She says.
Yeah that’s fine. I say.
I get up, wipe the dirt from my skirt. I hand the girl the last purple sweetie.
Thanks, she says.
No problem. I say.
I walk off. She didn’t want anything from me. I don’t need to concern myself with her safety,
I do not need to obsess about her. I will walk home, get changed and go to work tonight.
Forget about this. She is not your problem.
