Welcome to the third issue of MONO. If we had to use three words to describe
it, they would be:
bold,
beautiful
& brave.
And a miracle after a year taken up mostly with running the 2022 MONO.
Poetry Prize. This year's prize judged by 2021 TS Eliot prize-winner, Joelle
Taylor, attracted more entries than ever before, and we hope you have had a
chance to read some of our fabulous winners on the blog.
This issue is centred around dwelling, in places, buildings, moments, families;
in the past, present and future. It makes space for the experimental, with bold
poetry right at its heart, before culminating in a beautiful collection of brave
verse from poet JS Dorothy exploring mental health. As always there are first
time publications, work from mature writers, plus a healthy dose of dark
humour throughout (& yes, the titles are supposed to look like that : )
We hope you find something in Issue 3 that cuts deep, that makes you smile,
that encourages you to be bold, to take risks with your own work regardless of
how long you've been writing. Be inspired!
Stay safe and keep writing!
