The Stahl Center serves the UWM and Milwaukee communities with courses and public events on a wide variety of topics
in the field of Jewish Studies. Signature public programs
include the Faye Sigman Woman of Valor Lecture, Stahl
Center Distinguished Lecture, and the Colors of Jewishness
series, in addition to many other events. The Stahl Center
also oversees UWM’s undergraduate program in Jewish
Studies, the only fully online BA in Jewish Studies at a
public university in the U.S. Our courses range in time from
the biblical period to the present, and embrace disciplines
throughout the humanities and social sciences, including
history, literature, theatre, film, cultural studies, religion,
and Hebrew language. In addition to the major and minor
in Jewish Studies, the Stahl Center oversees the Certificate
in Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Studies.

The Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource
Center is dedicated to the building of a society resting on
values of tolerance and diversity, dignity and respect toward
all human beings. As the only organization statewide solely
dedicated to Holocaust education and remembrance, HERC
offers a wide range of resources for educators, families and
communities, including an innovative digital toolkit featuring
over 100 lesson plans, educator training workshops, speakers
bureau, field trip opportunities, bar/bat mitzvah enrichment,
special programs and author talks. HERC also stewards an
expansive library of books and films available for checkout.

is an independent program of Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
