WELCOME! HERE’S WHYWE’VE LAUNCHED THISYEARBOOKWelcome to our first annualMicromobility Report Yearbook!Producing this Yearbook has certainlytaken longer and been harder than Ithought it would be. I’d like to start by thanking our fantasticteam: Scott Green, Tim Nightingale, Marli Older, Ed Price andGary Wells, who have all done an outstanding job.To be frank, it was hard work to convince advertisers of thevalue of this new and unproven Yearbook, so I would like togive a huge thank you to all of those visionary companies whosupported us in year one!I’d like to give you two reasons why I decided over two yearsago that we should work towards the publication of thisMicromobility Report Yearbook that you’re either reading inflipbook version online or holding the print version.Firstly, having launched what is now called The Latz ReportYearbook for the bicycle industry way back in 1996, I saw howquickly that gained huge popularity and remains a much lovedand heavily used sourcing guide for bike shops throughoutAustralia. I know that the Micromobility Report Yearbook cangive the same benefits for its three target sectors.Secondly, at 61 years of age and after over three decades inbicycle-related media, just launching something new becauseit might make some money is no longer an adequate reason.I’m passionate about all the benefits that micromobilitycan bring across physical and mental health, climate, equity, liveable cities and so many more. I know that theMicromobility Report Yearbook can play a small, but unique10www.micromobilityreport.com.aurole by introducing suppliers to customers and helping toaccelerate this already growing field.THREE BOOKS IN ONEWe decided to split the Micromobility Report Yearbook in tothree books because all three sectors, although overlapping, have some unique suppliers and customers.Products General includes the worlds of e-bikes, e-scooters andall other light e-mobility. Annual sales of e-bikes in Australia arenow approximately half a billion dollars, having grown at over46% per year for the five year period from 2017 to 2022.Mobility Assist is seeing the combination of the NDIS andnew e-technology making quality of life changing mobilityimprovements for people with a disability. I’ve been to exposand spoken to providers and clients in this market and knewthat we should include it.Finally, better Infrastructure is vital if we’re going to seecontinued growth across all micromobility. I want to do everythingthat I can to help all providers of hardware, software and otherservices make potential customers, especially across the threelevels of government, aware of the amazing products they offer.I’d love your feedback on any aspect of this Yearbook and howwe can make next year’s better.
