was a big black bear! David asked
God for help protecting the sheep
that night. David stayed awake all
that night watching and listening.
He stacked stones around the
place where they slept, so if the
bear came by and touched any of
the stones, they would all fall over,
and he would hear the noise.
Well, sure enough, in the middle of
the night the bear crept closer and
closer trying to sneak up on the
sheep. Just before the bear was
about to jump onto a sheep, his foot
hit a stone and knocked them over.
