RECRUIT CLASS #1 DAN BURRY WELCOMES HIS GRANDDAUGHTER
None of the Training & Safety Division instructors pictured here with retired firefighter
Dan Burry were born yet when Dan graduated from the fire academy as a member
of Recruit Class #1 (the first Dade County recruit class assigned a number) in 1960.
Sixty-three years and 150 classes later, Dan’s granddaughter, Jessica Givens,
received her silver Miami-Dade County firefighter badge on St. Patrick’s Day morning
at the Fire Rescue Training Center as a member of Recruit Class 151.
