Honor Flight South Fla- Mission 333
Article By: JROD
After almost 25 years I was 昀椀nally able to give back in
a small way to a group of men and women that we owe
so much to. My recent experience with the Honor Flight
Network was nothing short of amazing. I had the pleasure of being the guardian for a very special Vietnam
War veteran. We’ve all seen the movies, perhaps even
remember the history books, and maybe some stories
we overheard from a family gathering when we were
young. It doesn’t come close to speaking to a veteran
who lived it. I had that amazing experience with my
veteran and some others on the Honor Flight and it
has changed my perspective on what they lived
through during that era. I was really in awe by
the time we made it home after an 18-hour
day. The experience was undeniably more
rewarding than I could ever imagine.
Thank you, Gil and Local 1403, for
giving me the opportunity to take
part in this amazing experience.

It was humbling
to see these
veterans with
tears in their
eyes as they
searched for the
names of friends
they’d lost.
