Aden Perry Hero Event - A Success!
I am happy to say that our Aden Perry Hero event in December 2024 was a great success. A host of clubs from
Aden’s high school joined family and friends to keep his memory
alive. Aden’s dad Alan and his wife Erin 昀氀ew down from Missouri
to be a part of our day in celebration of Aden’s 20th birthday. The
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue family, active and retired, came out in
masses.
The Aden Perry Good Samaritan and Scholarship
Fund holds two 5k events each year. The support we receive
from those individuals who join us in person, as well as those who
purchase our raf昀氀e tickets
or donate goes a long way
to make possible what we
do in Aden’s name. These
fundraisers allow us to accomplish the goal of aiding
students on their academic
journeys.
Our December event was
eclectic and fun with something for everyone to enjoy.
This year we awarded a college scholarship to the 昀椀rst
place 昀椀nisher in Aden’s age
group. The December 5k
was held just before Aden’s
birthday, which is on December 11th. On that day, school
supplies that we’ve collected
in Aden’s name were donated to students in need. In 2024, the
City of Fort Lauderdale further honored Aden by holding an Aden
Perry Hero Life Ring unveiling ceremony to celebrate Aden’s birthday. Students from an inner-city school were invited to be a part
of the celebration and each of them received a bag of school supplies. It was a great learning opportunity for those students to be a
part of the unveiling, which included a water rescue demonstration
on how to throw the ring to a swimmer in distress.
At our Aden Perry Hero event we also raf昀氀e off a big-ticket item
giving everyone a chance to win something memorable for their
contributions to the cause. This year we raf昀氀ed off a golf cart that
was customized by Big D’s Customs for the Aden Perry Good
Samaritan and Scholarship Fund. This truly one-of-a-kind beauty garnered a lot of attention and had many people hoping that
THEIR ticket would be the winner. I am happy to say that the lucky
winner was Mark Fabian, a retired MDFR 昀椀re昀椀ghter.
Our next Aden Perry Hero 5k run/walk event will be held in April
2025. It will serve as a celebration of Aden’s Life marking the anniversary of the night that our lives were forever changed. There will
be a live band, great food, and other fun things that we’ll be sharing soon. To make things extra exciting this year, the lucky raf昀氀e
winner will take home a fabulous Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
