Spiritual Caregivers
The Spiritual Caregiver program, led by
Messiah Lifeways Chaplain Jacqueline Cook,
launched in 2023. Spiritual Caregivers are
volunteers who serve alongside the Pastoral
Ministries team to provide spiritual and
emotional support to Village Center residents,
family members, and team members. As part
of their training, these Spiritual Caregivers
completed an intensive six-month program that
included education in the areas of spirituality
and religion; grief, loss, death, and dying;
recognizing spiritual distress; cultivating cultural
humility; and other pertinent topics.

Pickleball with Bipartisan Caucus
In October 2023, several members of the
Bipartisan Caucus visited Messiah Village to
learn more about the continuing care retirement
community (CCRC) and senior living trends.
The visit included meaningful, non-partisan
conversations with residents and ended with a
friendly pickleball match against the Messiah
Village Pickleball (MVP) Team at a nearby park.
The visit originated from Rep. Patty Kim’s
outreach and quickly gained interest among
other representatives, demonstrating a shared
commitment to understanding the needs of
older adults.
