Mercuria Code-of-Conduct Web - Flipbook - Page 3
A Message from our
CEO and President
As one of the world’s largest commodity trading companies, Mercuria must continue to adhere
to the highest legal and ethical standards in all of its business activities across the globe. Our wellfounded reputation for integrity and excellence is one of our biggest assets.
Mercuria’s Code of Conduct (“The Code”) sets out the principles and core values to which Mercuria
adheres and to which Mercuria expects its employees and partners to adhere and re-affirms our
commitment to uphold the highest ethical standards at all times. It will help all employees by stating
clearly what kind of behaviour is expected and provides guidelines and expectations for employees
who observe or learn about potential violations of those standards.
Compliance with laws and regulations, respect for ourselves and every person and institution we deal
with, and behaviour that meets high standards for ethics and morality are at the heart of Mercuria’s
culture, and our success as a company is based upon observance of these standards by each one of
our employees across the globe.
The spirit of The Code should be followed by all of us in our day-to-day activities, and any acts or
potential acts not in compliance with The Code should be brought immediately to the attention of
Management, Legal and Compliance. It also encourages employees to seek guidance before taking
any action if they have even the slightest doubt about its appropriateness.
We ask that you review The Code and the principles contained within it and apply them to your dayto-day business activities. Mercuria’s brand and reputation are very valuable to our company, and we
expect each of you to ensure they are maintained and protected.
The Code should be your guide when making decisions, but communication and timely consultation
with those responsible for enforcing The Code are important tools also for ensuring that decisions
are made in the right way. Mercuria maintains a no-office policy whereby the management
team, traders and control functions all sit in open floor spaces, promoting open and inclusive
communications amongst all employees.
No individual should ever feel that they are alone if they are uncertain of the appropriateness of
a course of action or observe questionable behaviour. Management, Compliance and Legal are
resources for you to use when you have questions or concerns or need help in any situation.
