Daniel Jaeggi, President
Dear Stakeholders of Mercuria,
Welcome to our second Responsibilities
Report. It is with great pleasure that we issue
this report and provide you with some further
information about our business activities, our
culture and our efforts in relation to achieving
our many goals relating to our performance
with regards health, safety, environment and
governance. What a year it has been for Mercuria, we have had a very busy but successful
year in so many ways. Mercuria has continued to diversify its energy mix actively moving
towards our goal of trading energy commodities with lower environmental impacts and this
report will provide you with some more detailed
information on our portfolio transition.
Over the course of the last year we have continued with our efforts across our businesses to
evaluate and refocus our activities in response
to the growing concerns about the impact of
climate change. Over the last few years we
have seen increasing actions and interest in relation to the impact of climate change and how
industries such as ours can help to moderate
these effects. As a corporation and as global
citizens we share the concerns of others and
are keen to participate in the research, planning
and progression of the transition of our industry. We believe that we are very well placed,
having extensive knowledge of the industry
and its history, to really assist and formulate
the energy transition, having the experience
to identify and predict the challenges and the
successes.
Mercuria has publically declared its corporate
commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs (“Agenda 2030”) and we
are continuously incorporating these goals and
the intentions behind them into our corporate
culture and our way of life. The SDGs are now
integrated into all of our daily decision making,
from our corporate strategy to how we stock
our offices.
We have and continue to dedicate much time,
resource and money to enhancing our control
infrastructure across our global operations.
Operating in an environment which continues
to evolve and change from a fundamental
perspective, a regulatory perspective and a political perspective means we have to always remain at the top of our game and fully appraised
of all facts as they happen. We have developed
extensive expertise in navigating these complex environments to ensure full compliance
and undisrupted business operations.
I hope that the information which we are
providing to you in this report is useful and we
look forward to ongoing communications with
our stakeholders on the various topics.
Daniel Jaeggi,
President
