CSR Mercuria 2019 - Flipbook - Page 69
Marco Dunand, CEO
I hope that the information that we have provided for you in this year’s
report is useful for whichever purpose you will use it for. We will continue to improve our metrics and KPIs and continuously enhance our
controls and due diligence wherever possible, and we will critique ourselves to ensure we are always being the best that we can be. Mercuria’s Agenda 2030 program is now an integral part of our day to day activities and management discussions; I am personally overseeing this
programme and the whole Mercuria family is actively involved.
Climate change is obviously front and center of all of our minds at the
moment and we are all able to play a part in the energy transition. I personally believe that we have a large role to play in the green transition
-- who better to transition the industry than the industry itself?
We are tilting our assets book towards cleaner fuel investments wherever possible and working on ways to convert other assets to operate
in cleaner ways. We continue to focus on our compliance processes
and our health and safety controls, all of which are supported fully by
the management team. I fully believe in the digitalization of our industry and we are investing heavily in a number of different areas to further
automate and protect our businesses.
As I write this I am sitting at home, isolating because of the dreadful
Coronavirus; this year has certainly had a very challenging start. We
have put our global business continuity plan to its ultimate test, most
of our employees are working remotely and everything is working well.
I am really proud of the way that our employees across the globe have
accepted this challenge and are working hard to keep our business operating as usual with minimal disruption. I really hope everyone stays
safe during this time and that we can find an end to this disastrous
situation as quickly as possible.
I look forward to speaking with you throughout the year on our further
progresses towards the Agenda 2030 goals.
