INVESTMENTS IN RENEWABLES
Mercuria holds that as a global society we should commit
ourselves to developing and providing stable, reliable, affordable and secure energy for all. We recognize the impact of
human activities upon the climate, and look upon ourselves
as active participants in helping to find a path forward that
responds to this urgent issue in a thoughtful and productive
manner with balanced consideration of economic and quality
of life consequences.
While there are many exciting research and development efforts being pursued around the globe, Mercuria’s efforts are
focused on finding present-day, commercially sensible opportunities for industrial scale developments that can be executed upon with current proven technologies. Opportunities
include both greenfield projects and potential for brownfield
developments using current renewables technologies to retrofit older installations.
With this purpose, Mercuria has joined as the anchor limited
partner with other experienced private equity firms looking to
provide financing and related logistics for renewable energy
ventures. This partnership (Prisma Energy) develops, licenses and supports economical and sustainable technologies
to help mitigate climate change. It is led by individuals who
themselves have previously developed, operated and/or held
ownership of industrial size renewable power projects, and
are experienced in regard to the effective deployment of capital in this area. Prisma has as its mission to invest in opportunities arising from the transition towards a lower carbon
economy, with particular emphasis on proven technologies
in the Battery and Solar Generation subsectors. In addition
to investments it identifies independently, Prisma has the option to invest in opportunities presented to it by the EnCap
Energy Transition Fund, on a fee and carry-free basis, as part
of a deal sourcing arrangement with the fund. Mercuria anticipates that Prisma will ultimately invest in 10-15 distinct
portfolio companies. The partnership looks to provide commercial and industrial users with attractive, turn-key solutions
