OUR ENVIRONMENT
Mercuria is enthusiastic about environmental sustainability and is an active supporter of the world’s
transition towards a greener economy. Mercuria
began including environmental products into its
portfolio as the various markets began to develop. Mercuria trades in carbon emissions, certified
biodiesel and other environmental products. Mercuria has invested in sustainable biofuel refining
that encourages the use of carbon neutral fuels.
OUR ROLE IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION
Mercuria provides access to fuel diversity. It facilitates green products trading and structure adapted financing solutions.
Brunsbüttel Biodiesel Facility
Mercuria is one of the world’s leading biofuels
traders. Mercuria continues to be a major participant in European biodiesel and specifically recycled oil. This is a business whereby we guarantee
the sustainability of our product to our customers
and therefore full supply chain due diligence and
quality control is paramount.
Danskammer Generating Station
The return of the Danskammer power plant as a
peaking and notable load facility in the state of
New York adds to Mercuria’s European and U.S.
power portfolio. Mercuria brought the facility back
online utilizing natural gas rather than coal as its
primary fuel, dramatically lowering air emissions
while at the same time contributing to the local
economy.
South Bend Ethanol Facility
Purchased from Noble Americas, Mercuria is
engaged in a number of projects which will improve the facility’s reliability and restore its overall
operations to full design capacity. In addition to
the financial stability the facility provides to local
farmers for their production of corn the facility
provides growing environmental benefits by delivering carbon-neutral fuel supplies, which can be
effectively utilized by existing transportation infrastructure.
PT KEL Operations
While enthusiastic about developing energy markets, Mercuria also recognizes and supports existing fuel resources as global technology and
infrastructure development continues. In this regard, Mercuria continues its strategy to migrate
into cleaner, higher specification coals and continuously monitors its performance versus the
market and our competitors in this space. The PT
KEL Operations exemplify how commercial operations can provide a positive social impact within
a community following modern responsible mining methods.
MANAGING AND MEASURING
ENVIRONMENTAL RISK
Mercuria spends considerable time and effort to
gauge and evaluate the potential for Environmental Risk and to determine that appropriate measures are in place to appropriately guard against
or mitigate those risks. The measures taken span
a wide range of topics, as appropriate to the specifics of the Business activities to be undertaken.
