ADVANCING TRADE
Responsibly
Mercuria is proud to act as a responsible corporate citizen in its business activities around the
world. We embrace innovation and have created
a culture of compliance, teamwork and integration. Mercuria’s management team is responsible
for fostering and maintaining this strong culture
throughout the company and works collectively
and continually as a governing body to do this.
Conducting our business with integrity and high
ethical standards, and fostering an environment
of mutual respect for all employees is imperative
to our continued success.
HUMAN RIGHTS
Our policies and principles align with best practice for multinational corporations and in particular with authoritative frameworks such as the
UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human
Rights (the UNGPs or ‘Ruggie Principles’). Mercuria expects its employees and the companies that
it works with to follow fair labor practices, and will
refuse to conduct business with those who would
utilize forced or slave labor. Our policies also reflect the evolving expectations of many of our
stakeholders, from financing institutions to local
communities.
Our Modern Slavery Policy1 explicitly states our
“zero tolerance policy, when it comes to modern
slavery and human trafficking”. We expect all of
the suppliers, consumers, counterparties, vendors and partners that we work with to behave in
a way that is consistent with this principle and our
Supply Chain Policy. As an influential member in
the supply chain, we encourage suppliers to en-
hance their own human rights due diligence and
assist where necessary.
Mercuria is proud to be a founding member of
STSA, the Swiss Trading & Shipping Association
and Mercuria commits to compliance with the STSA’s code of conduct.2
As part of its commitment to transparency, Mercuria publishes its payments to governments3 related to extractive activities.
COMPLIANCE
All employees regularly receive Compliance training, and are reminded of their responsibilities and
obligations in respect of the company’s core values and the ethical and legal standards expressed
in the company’s Code of Business Conduct
Mercuria conducts all of its activities in compliance with local and international laws and regulations. A strong compliance culture is key to Mercuria’s success.
In addition to local and international laws, Mercuria is subject to physical, financial and environmental regulations across the globe in all of the
countries in which it trades and operates. Mercuria strives to work in a proactive, open and co-operative manner with all of its regulators around the
globe.
