PEOPLE 2023
Sourcing
all
commodities
ethically,
adhering to international standards and
demonstrating best-in-class practices.
Holding ourselves accountable to our high
ethical standards and continuously improve
our practices.
Our six principles approach to responsible
sourcing:
Preventing serious abuses: We actively
prevent
human
rights
violations
and
environmental damage throughout our supply
chains.
Managing risk effectively: We implement
comprehensive risk assessment measures to
identify and address potential issues
proactively.
Combating corruption: We have zero
tolerance
for
bribery
and
fraudulent
misrepresentation, ensuring transparency in all
transactions.
Preventing money laundering: We adhere to
strict anti-money laundering protocols to
combat financial crime.
Responsible security practices: We ensure
responsible use of public and private security
forces, respecting human rights and local
communities.
Supporting local economies: We prioritize
timely and accurate payment of taxes, fees, and
royalties to local governments, contributing to
infrastructure and development.
We turn these principles into action in three
main ways. First, by requiring all suppliers to
follow our six core principles, making them
integral parts of our contracts. Second, we
conduct thorough risk assessments using a
combination of on-site visits, digital tools, and
third-party providers to identify and mitigate
risks. And third, we prioritize transparency and
integrity in our business operations, ensuring
swift corrective action is taken when issues
arise, through our own teams or independent
third-party assessments.
Mercuria is committed to building a more
responsible and sustainable future for the
commodities industry. We believe that by
working together, we can create a world where
ethical practices and environmental protection
go hand in hand with economic prosperity.
HUMAN RIGHTS
At Mercuria, our commitment to environmental
stewardship goes hand-in-hand with our
dedication to protecting the people and
communities touched by our operations. Our
leadership team strives at maximizing business
potential while ensuring a culture of integrity
and prioritizing the well-being of our
employees, partners, and wider society.
Protecting human rights is at the core of our
mission. Mercuria’s commitment ranges from,
but is not limited to, the elimination of forced
and child labour, the right to fair and safe
working conditions, the freedom of association,
and the protection of community and
indigenous population rights.
Operating across the global market, our
activities and supply chains intersect with
diverse societies, each governed by its own set
of laws and regulations. At Mercuria, we
comply with all the local laws and regulations in
the jurisdictions we operate, while also
adhering to internationally recognized human
rights standards. Our approach to protecting
human rights is aligned with international best
practices, including the UN Guiding Principles
(UNGP) on Business and Human Rights and the
Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. This
commitment is embedded in our company
policies and processes, guiding the actions of
all employees and stakeholders.
