Each academy is tied to an industry
certification and accessibly scheduled
within the school day, including rigorous academic schedules.
“Career Academies benefit all students, and we believe these new courses
can help provide additional information to families as they look to make
informed decisions regarding their
child’s future after they leave these
halls,” Dr. Glavan says.
By embedding CTE courses into the
College Credit Plus curriculum, students
now gain the triple benefit of career exploration, industry-recognized credentials and transferrable college credit to
Ohio public post-secondary institutions.
“In Ohio, we are fortunate that CCP
gives students experience and exposure
to college credit courses in high school,
where the cost is minimal or nonexistent,”
Dr. Glavan says. Every year, some students
graduate high school with an associate degree and industry credentials in hand.
“With this expansion so far, we had an
additional 107 students enroll in CCP
courses in January,” Dr. Glavan adds, citing a 100% increase in CCP students at
Mentor High from spring 2022.
CCP credits are already integrated into
six CTE programs: EMT, business, healthcare, IT, construction and manufacturing.
Additionally, Mentor Schools is expanding CCP on campus with Lakeland at Paradigm. This new CCP location results from
