Tenby Autumn Diner Tour
Mon 7th Oct | 5 days | £449 pp
Day 1: Travel to Tenby for a 5-night stay.
Day 2: Today's 昀椀rst stop is the Lovespoon
Workshop, where we enjoy a talk and
demonstration on this 17th-century tradition. In
the afternoon we visit the National Botanic Garden
of Wales. Opened in 2000, the Garden is a
fascinating blend of the modern and historic. At its
heart is the Great Glasshouse, the world’s largest
single-span glasshouse, a remarkable tilted glass
dome designed by world-famous architects
Norman Foster and Partners. Inside, a
Mediterranean landscape is dominated by a sixmetre-deep ravine, rock terraces, and sheer faces
are cut by streams and waterfalls.
Day 3: Today we take a scenic drive to Britain’s
smallest city, St. Davids. No bigger than a village,
it’s narrow streets are 昀椀lled with cafes, shops, and
art galleries – but only one pub! In the afternoon
44
there is a chance to stroll around Carmarthen,
perhaps around the castle ruins.
Day 4: Today we head for the Pembroke Dock
Heritage Centre, For 150 years Pembroke Dock
was a military town, and home to all three Armed
Services. The last military unit left in the 1960s
and the town has striven to 昀椀nd new roles ever
since. This 昀椀ne Victorian town, with its grid-like
street pattern and impressive buildings, has
expanded considerably in the past 50 years. It still
has connections to its illustrious industrial past.
Today the former dockyard is a commercial port
and a gateway by ferry to Ireland. Entry is included.
In the afternoon we have some free time in
Pembroke.
