MEMORY & AGING
Memory & Aging
If you or a loved one is experiencing
signs of a serious memory problem, talk
with a doctor to determine whether the
memory problems are normal and to
find out what may be causing them.
Memory and other thinking problems have many
possible causes, including depression, an infection,
or medication side effects. Sometimes, the problem
can be treated, and cognition improves. Other
times, the problem is a brain disorder, such as
Alzheimer’s disease, which cannot be reversed.
Diagnosing
Talk to your doctor about
any of the memory problems
you’re experiencing. Finding
the cause of your memory
problems is an important
first step in determining
the best course of action
to address them.
