Sad News for Our
Maghull Community
Radio Station
In January 2024, after nearly 10 years of
unique broadcasting of Internet radio to
our community, Ian Porter (the
hard-working Maghull Radio Station
Manager) with a heavy heart, following
consultation with Maghull Town Council
(MTC) and his radio station colleagues,
decided to close the radio
station.
However, with the dwindling resources of
investment and volunteers, the
listenership has also declined which may
be symptomatic of contemporary media
trends. Nevertheless, the radio station
always felt that it had an amazing potential
that was never fully realised, never more
so than after the closure of the Champion
newspaper in August 2022 which had a
weekly free circulation to 160,000 homes
